Prof. Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Dr. Zakri Abdul Hamid, the Science Advisor to the Prime Minister of Malaysia has mooted the idea to establish Malaysia’s owned Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN). SDSN Malaysia Chapter was launched on 10th October 2013 at Technology University Malaysia by Hon. Mr. P.Kamalanathan, the Deputy Minister of Education II and attended by Dr. Jeffrey Sachs (picture is as below). SDSN Malaysia Chapter’s role is to support the nation towards achieving its development goals outlined in the New Economic Model (NEM), Vision 2020 and the 11th Malaysia Development Plan (2016-2020). SDSN Malaysia Chapter also act as a platform to mobilize knowledge, scientific and technical expertise from academia, civil society and private sector in support of sustainable development practices and solutions.
Rising to the Challenge (50) solution-based success stories and best practices which are under the twelve (12) thematic groups which mirrored the SDSN Global Thematic Group. These solutions came in various scales, undertaken by various parties which include public, private, universities, NGOs and others on sustainable development.
